Barbara also trained with the American Ballet Theater, studied Creative Dance with Barbara Mettler, and Jazz Dance with Jerome Robbins. She directed her own performing arts company which was funded by the National Endowment For the Arts. For most of her 60 years as a performer and master teacher Barbara studied in depth the use of nutrition, yoga, pilates, herbal medicine, meditation and breath work. Barbara is well versed in fitness psychology, physiology and neurophysiology.

Barbara worked directly with Jane Fonda to help introduce the first major aerobics programs, exercise video tapes, and the first Low Impact Aerobics classes to the public. During this period in her life, she began research into the Addiction Process related to concerns about staff problems and when the workouts were closed, returned to complete a degree in Psychology. Barbara then began a seventeen year career as an Addictions Therapist specializing in Dual Diagnosis, Medication Issues and Family Dynamics.

In 2000 Barbara retired to care for her elderly parents until their deaths in 2004. Barbara is a breast cancer survivor who has learned how to live a healthy and joyous life in spite of this disease. Bloom Inside Out is based in Sonoma, California where Barbara lives with her husband, and is close to her daughter, son in law and five year old grandson.
